50% by 2030

Urge President Obama to commit the U.S. to at least a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Why is this important?

As part of the 2014/2015 UN negotiating process for a new global climate treaty, governments are being asked to make ambitious commitments for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

We are calling on President Obama to commit the U.S. to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2030 using a benchmark of 2005. This scientifically feasible reduction is to be achieved by energy conservation and efficiency and renewable forms of energy.

Reasons for signing

  • Just trying to save the planet.
  • Corporations believe they have the right, the money and the power to decide and implement national energy policy, despite what the people declare and despite scientific evidence that the policies of Big Oil and Coal and Energy are fomenting disaster. The way vast amounts of capital and political power are used must be revised, and it must start with them.
  • to save our planet
